Stew octopus

  • red pepper: 1
  • White wine: to taste.
  • potatoes large: 4
  • loaf of bread: 4 slices
  • clams: 20
  • Octopus (once cooked): 600 g
  • onions large: 2
  • Olive oil: taste.
  • Salt and parsley: taste.


In a saucepan with boiling water to put the octopus and leave to cook. Taken from the octopus water and reserves. Peel the potatoes, cut slices thick and put them to boil in water seasoned with salt. Toast the slices of bread and cut it in half. Bring to simmer the clams with a little bit of the tail of the octopus, add the white wine. Get in the fire until they open. In a pan with olive oil aloura the chopped onion and peppers to the cubes, joins the cooking water octopus in an amount sufficient for the stew, and let boil, rectify the seasoning if necessary. To put this mixture in a cataplana (or casserole with a lid), add the potatoes, the octopus and the clams, leading to heat a few more minutes. Decorate with the bread and sprinkles with parsley to serve.
