Learn how these values are calculated :

There are several formulas that suggest the ideal weight for adults . Everyone brings limitations and do not take into account various factors such as age and body structure , just give an idea of ??what would be an average for a person who is within what is considered healthy .

Formula Dr. Devine

In 1974 Dr. Devine created a formula to calculate the ideal weight in adults with the aim of establishing a single dosage required for certain medications.
As only based on height, this method brings its limitations such as not taking into account the person's age. For women, this method tends to give a result below what is considered normal , especially if the woman has a very low height. The unique formula uses inches, remembering that 1 inch is equivalent to 2.54 centimeters. Converting the formula for metric system in cm are:

Men :

Ideal weight = 50 kg + 2.3 kg for each 2.54 cm above the 152.4 cm

Women :

Ideal weight = 45.5 kg + 2.3 kg for each 2.54 cm above the 152.4 cm

Formula Dr. Robinson

In 1983 , Dr. Robinson modified formula Dr. Devine , keeping the same structure, only by changing the values. Therefore, the method of calculation is the same and you can follow the previous example, only changing the values to calculate your ideal weight. While the formula of Dr. Devine presents problems for calculating the weight of women, especially those of short stature, the formula of Dr. Robinson shows disability to calculate the weight of tall men.

Men :

Ideal Weight = 52kg + 1.9 kg for each 2.54 cm above the 152.4 cm

Women :

Ideal Weight = 49kg + 1.7 kg for each 2.54 cm above the 152.4 cm

Formula Dr. Miller

This is another variation of the formula of Dr. Devine, along the same lines, only changing the numbers.

Men :

Ideal weight = 56.2 kg + 1.41 kg for each 2.54 cm above the 152.4 cm

Women :

Ideal weight = 53.1 kg + 1.36 kg for each 2.54 cm above the 152.4 cm
